The LIFE-REWAT EU funded project aims at implementing measures for the sustainable management of water resources of the lower Cornia valley, Tuscany. The Tuscany Region authority, Sant’Anna School Institute of Life Sciences, the Consorzio di Bonifica Toscana Costa and Asa Spa organize a special LIFE-REWAT result dissemination session during the workshop at the Centro Fiere Venturina Terme (Livorno), on Friday May 4, 9.30 am – 5.00 pm. This workshop will include a visit to the Cornia Valley sites.

Partners in LIFE-REWAT project and guest speakers Federica Fratoni, Tuscany Region authority; Luca Sebastiani, director of Sant’Anna School Institute of Life Sciences; Giancarlo Vallesi, president of Consorzio di Bonifica 5 Toscana Costa; Rossana Soffritti, mayor of Campiglia Marittima; Andrea Guerrini, president of Asa Spa, are invited to give their presentations in the morning session.

During the workshop, experts will share the best practices to develop a participated strategy for integrated water resource management demonstrating the economic and environmental sustainability leading to Circular Economy concepts. The World Water Week conference in August 2017, discussed the circular economy in the context of water restoration and regeneration over disposal and wastage, as the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) estimates that by 2050 water scarcity could affect four billion people worldwide.
